While visiting the Museum of Londonderry, I came across the story of Richard Barlett. The Queen's cartographer was decapitated for mapping Ulster.
Considering image-making with nation-building, this piece charts relations between bodies, place, borders, line, description, perspective, layers, colours, shading, functions, and features.
This performance is the prototype score for Layers, Channels, Paths, History; this iteration was made for the auditorium/lecture hall space of the Theatre Academy, Helsinki.
Performance with sound, digital and overhead projection, audience participation, approximately 20 minutes.
